Austria: US missile plan 'provocative' |  Printable version | 
The Austrian Defense Minister has rebuked the US for a plan to station a missile defense system in Europe, terming it as 'a provocation'.
Norbert Darabos said in an interview that the US was on the wrong track in its insistence on the deployment of a missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic despite Russia's objections.
He added the US plan makes no sense and building the missile defense system would only unnecessarily rekindle Cold War debates.
The US is planning to station parts of a missile defense shield in Eastern Europe. The plan provoked reactions by Moscow, which sees the project as a threat to its security.
